A preposition is a word used to link nouns, pronouns or phrases, to other words within a sentence. Preposition are usually short word and they are normally placed IN FRONT OF NOUNS (sometimes gerunds = kata kerja yang dibendakan).
Example of preposition: after, before, in, on, of, for, into, through, across, with, without, during, until, around, between, against, up, down, along, about, but, etc

Example:
- I want to help you but I can't ('but' is placed before 'I' which is a noun)
- After he takes a bath, he go to the kitchen to cook for his family ('after' is placed before 'he' which is a noun)
- Before washing the clothes, he wash the dishes first. ('before' is placed before 'washing' which is gerunds)
